The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men’s volleyball team closed out their 2008-09 campaign with a 3-0, straight-sets victory over the RMC Paladins on Saturday, February 7 in Kingston, Ont.
The Blues were solid throughout the entire match, shutting out the Paladins 25-18, 25-20, 25-16.
Steven Kung (Toronto) had a game-high nine kills, while Jessi Lelliott (Kelowna, B.C.) and Mike Manning (Vernon, B.C.) tallied eight kills apiece.
Lelliott also led all players with seven digs in his last game as a Varsity Blue and Deagan McDonald set a fantastic game for Toronto, picking up 19 assists in the victory.
Mark Noel (Quebec City, Que.) and Paul Demers (Manitowaning, Ont.) led the Paladins with eight kills each, while Brent Fisher (Kingston, Ont.) had a team-high six digs in the loss.
The Varsity Blues end the 2008-09 season in eighth place in the OUA with a 9-11 record.
