The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men’s hockey team fell 5-0 to the No. 5 McGill Redmen on Sunday, November 8 at McConnell Arena in Montreal, Que.
The Redmen dominated the first period, outshooting the Blues 13-3. Alexandre Picard-Hooper scored what would be the eventual game-winner 3:40 into the contest on a powerplay and McGill held a 1-0 lead after the first period of play.
Guillaume Doucet and Andrew Wright tallied McGill’s second-period goals to extend the gap to three. Francis Verreault-Paul added a short-handed marker 7:03 into the third period and Yan Turcotte finished it off with a powerplay goal with 10 minutes remaining to secure the 5-0 victory.
Blues goaltender Russ Brownell Oakville, Ont.) made 29 saves in the loss.
The Varsity Blues return to action next weekend (Nov. 13-14) as they travel to Thunder Bay, Ont. to take on the Lakehead Thunderwolves.
