On Saturday, September 20, the University of Toronto hosts the annual Shriners football game as the Varsity Blues host the No. 4 Queen’s Gaels at 1 p.m. at Varsity Centre.
The Blues are coming off a 58-7 win over the York Lions and will look to improve their play against an experienced Gaels squad. Toronto quarterback David Hamilton (Mississauga, Ont.) was named the OUA and CIS Offensive Player of the Week (Sept. 15) after throwing for 465 yards, going 22-of-32 with four touchdowns against York. He will go head-to-head with Queen’s quarterback Dan Brannagan (Burlington, Ont.) who is currently ranked first in the CIS for passing with 1163 yards, and a completion percentage of 54% with eight touchdowns in just three games.
Blues wide receiver Mark Stinson (Calgary, Alta.) looks to continue his play that earned him three touchdowns versus York. Gaels running back Mike Giffin (Kingston, Ont.) leads the CIS in rushing yards (472) and is sure to be a main focus of the Blues defence on Saturday.

All of this with a lot more in store for this Saturday’s OUA football match-up featuring the visiting Queen’s Gaels (3-0) and the Toronto Varsity Blues (2-1). The action takes place at Varsity Centre (299 Bloor St. W). Game time is 1 p.m.
Also this weekend, the Varsity Blues men’s and women’s soccer teams host the Carleton Ravens on Sunday, September 21 at Varsity Centre. The men get underway at 1 p.m. and the women follow at 3:15 p.m.
The matches are sure to be action packed as the Blues look to bounce back after falling to the Ravens last weekend. The No. 7 Blues men’s soccer team fell to the No. 2 Ravens last Sunday (September 14) 2-1 while the Varsity Blues women’s soccer team suffered a 1-0 loss to the No. 7 Carleton squad.
The University of Toronto baseball team hosts a double header against the McMaster Marauders on Saturday, September 20 at Scarborough Campus. Game times are set for 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
The Varsity Blues fastpitch team take on the visiting Carleton Ravens on Saturday, September 20 at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. and the Ottawa Gee-Gees on Sunday at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. All games will be played at Birchwood Park in Mississauga.
