The Varsity Blues baseball team went 1-1 in their doubleheader with the Waterloo Warriors at the University of Toronto’s Scarborough campus field on Saturday, September 13th.
Veteran Tyler Wilson (Port Hope, Ont.) drove in the only run for the Blues as the Warriors came away with a 6-1 victory in the first game of the day. Drew Taylor pitched the entire game for the Blue and White, tallying eight strike-outs in the loss.
Toronto bounced back to take game two of the doubleheader. The Blues scored two runs in the third inning to take the lead and held on for a 4-1 win over the visiting Warriors. Offensively, P.J. McColl (Milton, Ont.) and Toronto natives Jeremy Hopkins and David Fallico had a hit and RBI apiece. Blues pitcher Marek Deska would strike out seven in the victory.
Due to weather conditions, Sunday’s games against the Western Mustangs were rained out.
The Varsity Blues baseball team are home again this weekend hosting the McMaster Marauders at the University of Toronto’s Scarborough campus on Saturday, September 20. Games are scheduled for 12 and 2 p.m.
