The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men’s volleyball teams suffered two losses on the road this weekend (Nov. 14-15). The Blues fell 3-0 to the Laurier Golden Hawks on Friday and recorded a 3-1 loss to the Waterloo Warriors on Saturday.
Although all three sets were close (22-25, 20-25, 20-25), the Blues could not find a way past the Golden Hawks. Steven Kung led Toronto with 12 kills and eight digs, while Jessi Lelliott (Kelowna, B.C.) tallied 11 kills and seven digs in the loss.
On Saturday, the Blues and Warriors split the first two sets, however, Waterloo gained momentum and came away with the 3-1 (18-25, 25-19, 21-25, 18-25) victory.
Kung was the force behind the Blues offence again, as he recorded a game-high 14 kills. Lelliott led all players with 20 digs and first-year setter Mitchell Woodside (Clyde River, P.E.I.) tallied 36 assists in the loss.
