The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men’s basketball team dropped two games on the road this weekend (Nov 14-15), falling 78-58 to the Windsor Lancers on Friday night before recording a 76-72 loss to the Western Mustangs on Saturday afternoon.
The Blues and Lancers exchanged points in the first half of Friday’s matchup, with Toronto only trailing 33-29 at halftime. However, Windsor put on the pressure and began to pull ahead, outscoring Toronto 26-18 and 19-11 in the third and fourth quarters, respectively, to come away with the convincing 78-58 victory.
Nick Magalas (Burlington, Ont.) led the Blues with 19 points on the night, while Rob Paris (St. Catharines, Ont.) added 12 points in the loss.
Toronto started off slow against Western on Saturday, and found themselves down 33-25 at halftime. The Blues rallied to outscore the Mustangs 25-20 in the third quarter and narrow their deficit to three points, but could not gain the lead in the fourth and fell 76-72.
Magalas again led the Blues, and all players, recording 22 points and Paris tallied 19 points in the Toronto loss.
The Varsity Blues are on the road again next weekend, as they travel to face the Laurier Golden Hawks on Friday, November 21st and the Waterloo Warriors on Saturday, November 22nd. Game times on both days is scheduled for 8 p.m.
