Marek Deska (Mississauga, Ont.) was dominant in pitching a complete game, two-hit shutout as the University of Toronto Varsity Blues defeated the Guelph Gryphons 3-0 on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at U of T's Scarborough campus field. 
With the victory, the Blues improve to 6-10 as they battle Waterloo, Laurier and Guelph for the final playoff spot. 
In a game that took a mere 1 hour and 45 minutes, Deska was outstanding in keeping the Guelph batters off balance with his arsenal of pitches, striking out twelve in the victory. 
The Blues scored all three runs in the third inning, highlighted by a two-out, two-run single by Pat Janssen (Scarborough, Ont.). Chris Dahiroc (Ajax, Ont.) and Jamie Lekas (Toronto, Ont.) each chipped in with two hits. 
The Blues hit the field again tomorrow, Thursday, October 2nd when they travel to Hamilton to take on the McMaster Marauders in a pivotal game, and end their regular season on Sunday, October 5th when they host the Western Mustangs. Game time is 1:00 p.m.
