Laura Upenieks finished second overall in a tight individual race to lead the Varsity Blues women’s golf team to a silver medal at the 2010 OUA championships (Oct. 18-19).

 

Upenieks held the lead after day one, shooting an outstanding round of 75. The second-year psychology and political science student followed that up with an equally impressive day of 78 to finish the tournament with a final score of 153, good for the individual silver medal.

 

A native of Toronto, Upenieks shot 24 pars and added three birdies over 36 holes. She was named an OUA first team all-star for her top-four performance.
