 Fourth-year veteran Jason Wurster reclaimed his national title in the men’s pole vault, clearing a height of 5.40m to earn his second gold medal in three years at the 2010 CIS track and field championships and the lone Blues men’s gold medal of the meet.

 

Wurster, the 2010 OUA pole vault champion, entered the competition when only Saskatchewan’s Taylor Petrucha remained. After sitting for over an hour, the Stevensville, Ont. native missed his first two attempts before clearing 5.20m.

 

Wurster, a third-year geography major, then cleared 5.40m on his first attempt to secure the victory. He was named a first team all-Canadian for his efforts.
