OUA East libero of the year Michelle Wood tallied an incredible 51 digs and was named the Final Four’s most valuable player in leading the Varsity Blues women’s volleyball team to their first OUA championship banner since 2004.
 
The Toronto native recorded a game-high 33 digs as the Blues defeated the Western Mustangs 3-2 (20-25, 25-20, 25-21, 20-25, 15-12) in a grueling semi-final contest on Friday night in Hamilton, Ont.
 
Wood continued her stellar defensive play with 18 digs in a 3-0 (25-20, 25-23, 25-19) shut out of the favoured McMaster Marauders to earn her first CIS championship berth in her five-year career.
