Playing a big role in helping the Toronto Varsity Blues secure a sixth straight OUA badminton banner, Lai competed in seven doubles matches over the duration of the championship and recorded six wins.
 
Not dropping a single set in the six wins he was involved in, the nursing major went on to be named one of the male OUA all-stars following the competition.
