Fifth-year veteran golfer Laura Upenieks claimed an individual title and helped the University of Toronto Varsity Blues to one tournament title and one team silver medal this past week.
Upenieks finished first overall in leading the team to a first-place finish at the 2013 Allegheny Invitational in Pennsylvania. The Blues finished with a combined team score of 653, eight strokes ahead of Seton Hill University.
A four-time OUA all-star, Upenieks shot a two-day total of 154 (78, 76), seven strokes ahead of silver medalist Mirana Santucci of Allegheny.
The Master’s of Sociology student went onto place sixth overall at the Waterloo Invitational (Oct. 5-6), helping the Blues to a team silver medal at Cambridge Golf Club.
U of T finished with a score of 481, behind the host Warriors (464), with Upenieks shooting 160 (79, 81).
