Two-time all-Canadian Heather Bansley amassed 35 kills and 22 digs as the Varsity Blues women’s volleyball team went 2-0 this weekend (Jan. 9-10) with wins over the Ottawa Gee-Gees and cross-town rivals York Lions.
 
A fifth-year English/linguistics major, Bansley recorded a game-high 13 kills, as well as five digs, two serving aces and two solo blocks, as the Blues blanked the Gee-Gees 3-0 on Saturday afternoon. 
 
Down 2-1 to the OUA defending champions on Sunday night, the Waterdown, Ont. native rallied her squad in a thrilling come-from-behind victory over the Lions with 22 kills, 17 digs and three serving aces.
 
A member of Canada’s beach volleyball team, Bansley remains at the top of the OUA and CIS leader board, averaging 4.21 kills and 5.12 points per game.
 
Honourable Mention: Karolina Urban (W-Hockey): Three goals, four assists in four games this week.
