In her Varsity Blues debut, fifth-year pitcher Katie Humhej helped the University of Toronto softball team to four big wins this past weekend.
Â
The Surrey, B.C., native made a statement in U of T’s season openers in Kingston on Saturday. Humhej pitched a complete game no-hitter, striking out 10.
Â
She pitched another four innings in Toronto’s 6-1 victory over Carleton on Sunday, striking out nine and allowing only one hit.
Â
The NCAA transfer and member of the Czech Republic national team was equally as impressive at the plate. She went 8-for-14 at the plate (.571), with two doubles and one triple, while scoring three times and driving in four runs.
