Fourth-year goalkeeper Levanta Staggolis totaled 15 saves in leading the Varsity Blues women’s soccer team to an OUA silver-medal finish and a berth into the 2019 U SPORTS championship this past weekend in Ottawa.
 
The kinesiology major from Toronto made eight saves through 120 minutes against the No. 7 nationally-ranked and previously unbeaten Western Mustangs in semifinal action on Friday night. Staggolis stepped up when it counted most. Leading 3-2 in penalty kicks with Western’s Maddy Skinner up as the last shooter, Staggolis made a beautiful diving save to seal the victory and punch Toronto’s ticket to the national stage.
 
Staggolis went onto make seven saves in a losing effort to the York Lions in the OUA final, but helped the Blues match their program-best silver-medal finish.
