Rebecca Smith earned both OUA and U SPORTS female rookie of the year honours in 2018-19. At the OUA championships, Smith won the 50 butterfly and 100 and 200 freestyle events in OUA record time, while also claiming gold in the 100 butterfly and helping Toronto to a first-place finish in the 200 medley relay.
 
The Red Deer, Alta., native didn't stop there. Smith won the 50 and 100 butterfly and the 100 freestyle at the U SPORTS championships. The life science major earned the 200 freestyle silver medal and helped Toronto to two Canadian club and three U SPORTS records in the 400 freestyle, 400 medley and 800 freestyle relays.
