Kylie Masse won two individual races, one relay and broke two meet records in leading the Varsity Blues women’s swimming team to a dominant win over the Western Mustangs in dual-meet action on Saturday night.
The 2016 Olympic bronze medalist and 2017 world champion took a break from her usual backstroke events, but dominated nonetheless at Varsity Pool. A native of LaSalle, Ont., Masse won the 50 freestyle in a meet record time of 24.83 seconds, while also winning the 200 butterfly well under the U SPORTS standard (2:21.19) in 2:09.99. Â Â
The kinesiology major kicked off the meet by helping the Blues win the 200 medley relay in meet record time (1:54.20), swimming the backstroke leg in an impressive 26.87 seconds.
