Rookie forward Taylor Trussler scored her first career hat trick as the Varsity Blues women’s hockey team notched a dominant 7-1 victory over the Ryerson Rams last Thursday afternoon.

A kinesiology major from Ayr, Ont., Trussler scored her first of the game midway through the opening frame, burying a Julia Szulewska rebound at the side of the net. She added her second halfway through the second period, skating the length of the ice and beating three Rams before sending the puck short side to find the back of the net.

Trussler completed the hat trick early in the third period, skating out from the corner and wiring the puck top shelf. She also helped the Blues to a 5-3 victory over the York Lions on Saturday.

Trussler currently leads all OUA rookies with four goals in six games this season.
