A second-year guard from Toronto, Shadkami amassed 55 points, five assists, four rebounds and two steals in leading the Varsity Blues men’s basketball team to two big victories at home this weekend.
The kinesiology major recorded a career-high 33 points, going 9-for-16 from the floor, 6-for-10 from beyond the arc and 9-for-11 from the free throw line as the Blues topped the Algoma Thunderbirds 85-81 on Friday night. With Toronto trailing by nine with 5:11 remaining in the game, Shadkami took charge, draining 13 points, including three three’s, to seal the victory.
His hot hand continued on Saturday, leading Toronto with 22 points in a 99-92 victory over the Guelph Gryphons. With the Blues leading by two entering the fourth quarter, Shadkami put up Toronto’s first nine points of the final frame, including another two three-pointers, to seal the victory.Â
