Salma Dessouki went 4-1 and earned all-star honours in helping the Varsity Blues women’s tennis team to a silver-medal finish at the 2018 OUA championships this past weekend in Markham, Ont.

Dessouki kicked the weekend off with a 6-0, 6-2 win in the No. 4 women’s singles match as Toronto topped Waterloo 6-1 in OUA quarter-final action. The native of Cairo, Egypt notched singles and doubles victories in the Blues 6-1 semi-final victory over York on Saturday.

A second-year industrial engineering major, Dessouki picked up one of two Varsity Blues victories in the championship final, winning the No. 5 singles match in three sets.
