A second-year midfielder from Toronto, Anthony Sousa scored two goals, including the game-winner, in leading the Varsity Blues men’s soccer team to an upset 3-2 victory over the No. 6 nationally ranked Carleton Ravens on Sunday in Ottawa.
Tied at 1-1 midway through the second half, Sousa received a nice pass from veteran Jae Jin Lee and made no mistake in finding the back of the net. After the Ravens evened the match up again, Sousa scored his second of the match in the 90th minute. The commerce major received another long pass from Lee, headed the ball over the Ravens defenders and slotted it past a charging Carleton goalkeeper to seal the victory.
With the win, the Blues handed the Ravens their first loss of the season and became the only team to score more than two goals against them this season. U of T improves to 9-3 and has sole possession of third place in the OUA East division with four regular season games remaining.
