Fourth-year veteran Gabriel Nakonechny hit for the cycle in leading the OUA defending champion Varsity Blues baseball team to a dominant 17-1 victory over the Waterloo Warriors on Saturday.
The Toronto native went 5-for-5, including four extra base hits; a double, two triples and a grand slam home run. Gabriel also notched seven RBI and one stolen base in the win.
Over four games this weekend, the international relations major batted .600 (9-for-15), drove in nine runs, scored eight times and recorded four stolen bases.
The Blues (10-4) sit in second place in the OUA standings, just behind the Brock Badgers (9-3) who they will square off against this coming Friday, October 5.
