Rookie standout Ellice Hong won the individual gold medal in leading the Varsity Blues women’s golf team to a dominant first-place finish at the Toronto Invitational this past weekend at Angus Glen Golf Club.
 
A first-year commerce student from Thornhill, Ont., Hong won the invitational by finishing two strokes ahead of teammate and eight-time OUA all-star Laura Upenieks. She shot a tournament-low round of 72 on Day 1 and finished with a two-day total of 152.  
 
As a team, the Blues won with a combined team score of 468, 40 strokes ahead of the Queen’s Gaels (508).
