Nikolay Saveliev, a fourth-year midfielder, scored the game-winning goal in leading the No. 5 nationally ranked Varsity Blues men’s soccer team to a 2-1 OUA quarter-final victory over the Carleton Ravens on Sunday afternoon at Varsity Stadium.

Tied 1-1, the economics and criminology major from Nagoya, Japan was awarded a free kick from just over 20 yards out and sent a beautiful shot into the top corner of the net to seal the victory.

The Blues will now take on the No. 1 nationally ranked York Lions in OUA semi-final action this Saturday, November 4 at 12 p.m. at Birchmount Stadium.
