Rookie striker Jessica Fantozzi from Richmond Hill, Ont. helped the Blues get off to a 2-0 start in intercollegiate women’s soccer action this past weekend. The humanities major, and sister of Blues forth-year forward Christina Fantozzi, scored twice against the Queen’s Gaels on Sunday, Sept. 6 and was a major factor in the 3-0 shutout victory over the Trent Excalibur on Saturday afternoon. The highly recruited Fantozzi opened the scoring against the Gaels just three minutes into the contest when she sent a booming shot over the head of Queen’s goalkeeper Leny Corry for her first goal as a Varsity Blue. She then added the insurance marker in the 70th minute to seal the deal for U of T against a tough Gaels squad.
