Fourth-year veteran James Turner claimed the 2015 CIS pentathlon title in leading the University of Toronto Varsity Blues men’s track and field team to a sixth-place finish at the national championships this past weekend in Windsor.

The Kelowna, B.C., native and OUA pentathlon record holder placed first in the 1000m (2:44.57), second in the long jump (7.04m), shot put (14.22m) and high jump (1.97m), while finishing third in the 60m hurdles (8.28 seconds). He was named a CIS first team all-Canadian for his efforts.

Fellow veteran Greg MacNeill claimed the men’s 60m hurdles title, crossing the finish line in 7.85 seconds to win his first career CIS title. The Brampton, Ont., native was the lone athlete to break the eight second mark in preliminaries, with a time of 7.97 seconds. MacNeill too earned CIS first team all-Canadian honours.
