First-year swimmer Oliver Straszynski earned three first-place finishes in leading the University of Toronto Varsity Blues to the Stratten division championship title this past weekend (Nov. 22-23) in London, Ont.
Straszynski won the 200 freestyle in a time of 1:50.11, more than a second ahead of last year’s OUA champion in that event, Robert Wise of Western (1:51.58).
An engineering major from Toronto, Straszynski also won the 400 freestyle in 3:56.50, the top time by an OUA swimmer this year in the event, and the 1500 freestyle in a time (15:48.05) that would have won an OUA silver medal at last year’s conference championships.Â
