 Third-year forward Devin Johnson recorded 44 points and 24 rebounds in leading the Unviersity of Toronto Varsity Blues men’s basketball team to a 1-1 season opening weekend in Waterloo.

A native of Ajax, Ont., Johnson led all players with a double-double of 24 points and 18 rebounds as Toronto defeated the Waterloo Warriors 79-76 on Friday night.

The political science major notched 20 points and six boards on Saturday in U of T’s narrow loss to the Laurier Golden Hawks.

Johnson ranks fourth in the OUA with 22.0 points and third in the province with 12.0 boards per game after opening weekend.
