Fourth-year standout Vanessa Treasure earned five gold medals and was named the female swimmer of the year in helping the University of Toronto Varsity Blues to their first OUA title since 2008 this past weekend, Feb. 6-8, at Brock University.
The Mississauga, Ont., native won the Dr. Jeno Tihanyi Award for Individual Medley Excellence for the second time in her career after winning both the 200 and 400 IM races. Treasure also earned individual gold in the 200 breast stroke, setting a new OUA record in a time of 2:28.99.
A kinesiology major, Treasure was a member of U of T’s record-breaking 800 freestyle relay team (8:08.60) and also claimed gold in the 400 medley relay with a time of 4:13.37 on Day 2.Â
