Fourth-year left side hitter Charlotte Sider totalled 28 kills, 26 digs and five aces in leading the University of Toronto Varsity Blues women’s volleyball team to two big wins and lift them into first place in the competitive OUA East division.
Sider led all players with 13 kills and 16 digs as the Blues cruised to a 3-0 (25-20, 30-28, 25-21) victory over the Brock Badgers at home on Saturday afternoon.
The Ottawa native followed that up with another game-high performance in front of her hometown crowd on Sunday. Sider notched 15 kills, 10 digs and five aces to lead the Blues to a 3-2 (25-18, 12-25, 25-11, 16-25, 15-13) upset win over the No. 7 Gee-Gees. The kinesiology major accounted for six of Toronto’s last seven points in the fifth set, notching four kills and two aces to secure the win.
The Blues move into first place in the OUA East division for the first time this season. Sider now ranks fourth in the OUA with 200 kills in 63 sets.
