Third-year veteran Philip Arci led the University of Toronto Varsity Blues to two tournament titles this past week in men’s golf action.
Arci claimed the individual gold medal at the NCAA’s Mercyhurst Fall Invitational (Sept 29-30), shooting a two-day total of 145, including a tournament-low 69 on Day 2. The Woodbridge, Ont., native and 2012 OUA first team all-star led the Blues to a 26-stroke victory, ahead of Carnegie Mellon University.Â
A third-year political science and criminology major, Arci then helped U of T claim the 2013 Waterloo/Laurier Invitational team title this past weekend (Oct. 5-6). The Blues finished with a combined team score of 567, 13 strokes ahead of Waterloo and Western, and a team-record 279 round on Day 2 at Grey Silo Golf Club.
Arci tied for sixth overall individually, shooting a 142 and final round of 70.Â
