Third-year guard Rachael Sider recorded 39 points and 11 boards, including a game-winning three-pointer, in leading the Varsity Blues women’s basketball team to two big wins at home this weekend.

The New Westminster, B.C., native drained a three with one second remaining as Toronto came from behind to defeat the York Lions, 66-65, on Saturday night. Sider recorded her first career double-double, matching her career-high of 21 points and setting a new mark with 10 boards on the night.

A philosophy and political science major, Sider also tallied a game-high 18 points as U of T defeated the Laurentian Lady Vees on Friday night.

MBNA believes that with personal drive and the right kind of support, someone who thrives on the playground can one day ascend the podium.
