First-year standout Curtis Samuel won five medals in three days, including four gold and a silver, and was named the male swimmer of the meet in leading the University of Toronto Varsity Blues men’s swim team to their sixth consecutive OUA title this weekend (Feb. 6-8).
The Oakville, Ont. native started things off on Friday with a first-place finish in the men’s 400m individual medley (IM) and picked up his second gold medal in as many days in the 400m freestyle on Saturday afternoon.
The faculty of physical education and health student rounded out the meet with a gold medal performance in the 1500m freestyle, finishing Sunday’s event in a time of 15:50.54.
Samuel was also a member of the gold-medal 800m freestyle relay team and earned a silver medal in 400m freestyle relay.
The Varsity Blues men’s team crushed all competition, totalling 906 points with their nearest competitor, the Western Mustangs, 318 points behind them.
