Eren Turkmenler’s win in singles action lifted the Varsity Blues men’s tennis team to their 31st OUA title in team history this past weekend (Oct. 7-9) in London, Ont.

 A native of Istanbul, Turkey, Turkmenler beat the odds in his final match, saving four match points in the second set tiebreaker to complete a huge come-from-behind victory over Waterloo’s Nachiket Yardi 3-6, 7-6, 6-0.

 Named an OUA all-star, Turkmenler’s win gave his team the extra point they needed, as the Blues claimed the title by only a 0.5-point margin. 

 The fourth-year management major cruised his way to the final of the number two flight with victories over Montreal’s David Hans (7-6, 6-2) and York’s Nir Shimony (6-2, 6-4).
