Fifth-year pitcher Marek Deska pitched a complete game, amassing an outstanding 15 strikeouts as the Varsity Blues defeated the Laurier Golden Hawks 4-1 on Sunday afternoon at Dan Lang Field.
Not only did the Mississauga, Ont., native account for 71% of Toronto’s outs, Deska, the 2008 OUA pitcher of the year, allowed only four hits over seven innings of work.
The Blues went 3-1 on the weekend, splitting their doubleheader versus the then first-place Waterloo Warriors, before notching two wins over the second-place Laurier Golden Hawks. Toronto is now 10-3 and move into first place in the OUA standings.
