Third-year standout Zack Chetrat earned three gold medals to lead the Varsity Blues men’s swimming team to a dominant 101-60 victory over the Western Mustangs on Saturday afternoon at Varsity Pool.

 

Chetrat first won and met the CIS standard in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:05.28. The Oakville, Ont., native went on to shatter Adam Peacey’s 11-year-old meet record (8:27.65) in a time of 8:16.97 in the 800 freestyle, finishing six seconds ahead of second-place David Hatch of Western. 

 

The economics and political science major closed the meet with a 57.38-second swim in the 100 butterfly for his third gold medal of the meet. Chetrat also helped the Blues to a silver-medal finish in the 200 medley relay.
