Josh Allan

Josh Allan was named head coach of the University of Toronto men’s rugby program in March 2023.

Originally from Halifax, Yorkshire, England, Allan brings more than 25 years of experience in the sport of rugby as both a player and coach.

As a rugby union player, Allan played for Leeds Carnegie and Sale Sharks at A-League standard and represented Yorkshire, the North of England and England at the junior level. He also played rugby league at the junior level with Leeds Rhinos and represented Yorkshire and Great Britain.

After moving to North America, Allan played for the Chicago Griffins Rugby Club and Oakville Crusaders, while also representing the Toronto Wolfpack.

Prior to joining the Blues, Allan served as head coach of the Toronto Buccaneers in 2021, coached with the Midwest All-Stars in 2019, and was head coach of the Westside Condors from 2019-20. He also spent seven years with the Chicago Griffins from 2013-20, serving as an assistant coach and backs coach.

Alongside his role with the Blues, Allan served as head coach of the Oakville Crusaders senior men’s team for the 2024-25 season, competing in the Marshall League.

Allan holds USA Rugby Level 100 and 200 coaching certifications, as well as a World Rugby Level One coaching certification.
