Biography
The University of Toronto Varsity Blues are excited to share the commitment of Claire Shambrook to the women's track and field team for the 2025-26 season.
A 6-foot sprint hurdler from Scrborough, Shambrook joins the Blues via Birchmount Park Collegiate Institute and the Blue Devils Athletic Club.
Shambrook has excelled in the hurdle events, qualifying for the OFSAA championship four years in a row in both the 100m hurdles and 400m hurdles, while also contributing in relay events such as the 4x100m and 4x400m. She holds multiple TDSSAA records in the hurdle events and has earned track MVP and athlete of the year honours while competing with Birchmount Park.
With her club program, Shambrook has competed at a number of prestigious meets including the 2023 Legion Nationals, both the 2024 and 2025 Nike Indoor Nationals, and most recently the 2025 Canadian Indoor Championships.
Shambrook will be staying in Scarborough for her program of study, majoring in psychology at the UTSC campus.
Students who sign a letter of intent and/or commit to Varsity Blues intercollegiate teams will be eligible to play at the University of Toronto provided they are academically admissible and have applied through the normal process with the Ontario Universities Application Centre.
