2026-27 Women's Swimming Roster
Biography
The University of Toronto Varsity Blues are excited to share the commitment of Sashka Votruba to the women's swimming program for the 2026-27 season.
A 5-foot-10 freestyle specialist from Georgetown, Votruba joins the Blues via Georgetown District High School and Halton Hills Blue Fins.
Votruba has competed at the 2025 and 2026 Bell Canadian Trials, Ontario Junior Internationals and Ontario Championships most recently. This included a silver medal finish in the 50m freestyle at the latter long course provincial showcase, touching the wall in a time of 27.14 which would have placed her in the Top 20 at the most recent long course U SPORTS national championships in 2024. Her exceptional swimming has garnered her Female Swimmer of the Year and Group Athlete Award with her club teams. In addition to her club success, she has also competed with her school team at OFSAA.
"Sashka is a pure sprinter and varsity teams always need sprinters," said Varsity Blues swimming head coach Byron MacDonald. "As she has already listed a time that qualifies for the national championships, Sashka will make an immediate impact."
A consistent honour roll student, Votruba will be studying kinesiology at the University of Toronto beginning this coming fall.
Students who sign a letter of intent and/or commit to Varsity Blues intercollegiate teams will be eligible to play at the University of Toronto provided they are academically admissible and have applied through the normal process with the Ontario Universities Application Centre.
