Biography

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues are excited to share the commitment of Rachel Wigginton to the women's swimming program for the 2026-27 season.

A 5-foot-5 butterfly and medley specialist from Calgary, Wigginton joins the Blues following one season at UNLV of the NCAA and from the University of Calgary Swim Club.

While competing south of the border, Wigginton qualified for the NCAA Championships and was a Mountain West conference champion. She has additionally competed at the Olympic Trials and was a finalist at the Canada Summer Games.

"Rachel will make an immediate impact on the Varsity Blues as her swim's last year would challenge for medals at U SPORTS," said Varsity Blues head coach Byron MacDonald. "Rachel swims the tough events--200 fly and 400 IM, and does them very well."

Wigginton begins her studies in the Faculty of Arts and Science at U of T this fall.

Students who sign a letter of intent and/or commit to Varsity Blues intercollegiate teams will be eligible to play at the University of Toronto provided they are academically admissible and have applied through the normal process with the Ontario Universities Application Centre.
