The University of Toronto Varsity Blues are excited to share the commitment of Jessie Rickards to the women's soccer program for the 2026 season.

"I chose the University or Toronto because it offered the complete package with world-class academics and a competitive soccer environment," said Rickards. "From the first conversation, Coach Angelo and the team made me feel like I belonged. After visiting the campus, I just knew this was the place I wanted to grow not only as a student and an athlete but as a person."

A defender from Langley, B.C., Rickards joins the Blues via Langley Fundamental Middle and Secondary School and Surrey United.

Experienced as both a centre back and fullback, Rickards provided staunch defence with each team she has been a member of. A strong all-around athlete she has also garnered overall Female Athlete of the Year honours in both 2023 and 2025. Her outstanding efforts saw her receive selection to Team BC, competing most recently at the 2025 Canada Summer Games.

Students who sign a letter of intent and/or commit to Varsity Blues intercollegiate teams will be eligible to play at the University of Toronto provided they are academically admissible and have applied through the normal process with the Ontario Universities Application Centre.
