Bonnie Shepherd

Bonnie Shepherd enters her sixth season as the GM & assistant coach of the Varsity Blues. During this time the Blues achieved their best regular season finish with a First-place overall in the OUA in 2008.

The Blues have qualified for a playoff position for six consecutive years and captured the 2003 Ontario University Athletics (OUA) bronze medal. In addition the squad has garnered several Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) top-ten rankings and produced six all-Canadians, 22 OUA all-stars, one OUA-East MVP award and two FISU games players. Six years of her targeted recruitment has helped turn the Blues into a dominant force in the OUA and CIS.

A product of the Erin Mills Soccer Club, before coming to U of T, Bonnie served as the head coach of the Red Devils women's team in South Africa, where her squad earned the 2002 Northern Cape provincial title. She holds her NCCP level one and two coaching certifications. A well-rounded athlete beyond the soccer pitch, Bonnie was a member of the 2000 Ontario University Cup mountain bike team at Queen’s University. She is a former national skating team member, two-time international skating medalist, and was a player/coach for the Toronto Rage volleyball club.

Bonnie holds a Masters of Education from the University of Toronto, as well as co-current degrees in Bachelor of Physical Health and Education and Bachelor of Arts from Queen’s. She works in the Faculty of Physical Education and Health at the University of Toronto.
