Biography

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's water polo team is proud to announce the addition of Amy Pearce to their 2023-24 roster.

Pearce was a four-year varsity athlete at Murrieta Valley High School in California. This year, her school was CIF Southern Section Champions and subsequently runner up in the Southern California Regional Championships.

Pearce expanded her experience for several years by playing on the powerhouse SOCAL Club, as well as participating in the Olympic Development Program’s (ODP) Southern Pacific Zone teams. This past summer she played with Team Vegas at the USA Water Polo Junior Olympics in Southern California.

Last year, Pearce served as head coach for Elite Water Polo Foundation’s U12 team at the ’22 Junior Olympics in Northern California.

“Amy is one of the most mature recruits I have ever met,” offered Blues Head Coach, George Gross, Jr. “She is a fierce competitor and an excellent vocal communicator in the water.”

Outside of water polo, Pearce worked as a lead lifeguard for the City of Temecula and was awarded Lifeguard of the Year. She graduated with a 4.0 GPA (Valedictory Circle) and served as class vice president. She was also president and founder of Cereal Club which assisted in educating students about nutrition and balanced lifestyle choices. The Cereal Club broke down social barriers providing a fun and inclusive place for students who needed a group at lunch.

As a volunteer, Pearce worked in an American Red Cross shelter during a wildfire in her community.  In addition, she volunteered her time to create social media strategies and content for two local medical offices.

“I chose to attend the University of Toronto not only for its esteemed nursing program but also for the unique team environment within the water polo community” Pearce stated enthusiastically. “Through conversations with current players and alumni, I discovered a supportive and close-knit team atmosphere that fosters both personal growth and athletic achievement. This sense of camaraderie passed down from those who have thrived in the program, convinced me that U of T is the ideal place to excel in both my studies and water polo journey. In the upcoming year, I am eagerly looking forward to immersing myself in the dynamic University of Toronto experience. Being an international student, the opportunity to explore Toronto and Canada adds an extra layer of excitement to my journey. Overall, I'm ready to embrace the academic, athletic, and social opportunities that the upcoming year at the University of Toronto holds”.

Pearce is entering the Health Studies program leading to Nursing and is affiliated with University College.
