John Bennett became a full-time assistant coach with the Varsity Blues women's basketball program at the beginning of the 2023-24 season.
Bennett joins the Blues with plenty of high performance experience, spending nearly eight years with the Toronto Raptors organization in various roles including working in basketball operations, video coordination, summer league coaching and scouting, and player development. In addition, Bennett served as an assistant coach with the Raptors 905 from 2020 to 2022.
He also worked as an assistant coach with the McMaster Marauders men's basketball team during the 2022-23 season, and head coach with the Taoyuan Leopards of the T1League in 2023.
Bennett brings with him an adept basketball knowledge and an ability to provide opportunities and strategies through the use of technology. This skill set allows for a combination of on-court skill development and video breakdown that will further benefit the Varsity Blues women's basketball program.
