Biography

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues are excited to share the commitment of Louis Low to the men's swimming program for the 2026-27 season.

"Choosing U of T was simple for me, from its outstanding coaching staff, to its incredible team and indomitable academic legacy," said Low. "The University of Toronto is where I look forward to growing both in school and in swim."

A 6-foot-4 sprint freestyle specialist from Burlington, Low joins the Blues via Bishop P. F. Reding Catholic Secondary School and the Milton Marlins Swim Team.

Low has made a mark with his club, setting nine Milton Marlins club records. He has competed at some of the most prestigious events across the country including the Ontario Jr. International, Eastern Nationals, Canadian Nationals, and the Olympic Trials. Low has medaled at the provincial championships a total of six times and earned bronze at the Eastern Nationals in 2024. He additionally was named to the Swimming Canada National Development Program in 2023.

An accomplished student, Low has received honour roll and Principal's High Honour recognition multiple times.

"We have been recruiting Louis for awhile because he is a bona fide sprinter and will help fill some big holes we will have with the graduation of our top sprinters," said Varsity Blues swimming head coach Byron MacDonald. "His improvement arc is a strong indicator of even better swims to come in the future. Plus, you can never have too many sprinters is the mantra of any university coach as there are so many sprint and relay races."

Students who sign a letter of intent and/or commit to Varsity Blues intercollegiate teams will be eligible to play at the University of Toronto provided they are academically admissible and have applied through the normal process with the Ontario Universities Application Centre.
