Scott Aquanno

Scott Aquanno became head coach of the Blues softball program in the winter of 2024.

The recipient of the 2023 Softball Canada National Coach of the Year award, Aquanno took on the helm of head coach with the Blues program following ten years of elite level coaching in Ontario, leading various age groups to the Softball Canada National Championships. This included trip as head coach of the Whitby Eagles to the national championships in Saskatoon (2023) and Montreal (2022), finishing in the top five on both occasions. During this two-year stretch, Aquanno's national premier team posted an outstanding .848 winning percentage and recorded victories over many high-caliber US opponents. These teams would have three players selected to the Softball Canada National Championships All-Star Team, and six players chosen for Team Ontario.

Since 2013, Aquanno has served as head coach with various Whitby Eagles teams, ranging from U14 to U19, while also carrying the role of executive director with the Whitby Eagles Softball Association since 2020. In addition, he has also served as a skills coach with the Whitby Minor Baseball Association and Whitby Elite Softball Training Academy, developing skill and technique acquisition programs.

Aquanno possesses familiarity with U of T, completing a post-doctoral fellowship at the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy. He also possesses a Ph.D. in Political Science from York University. Aquanno is currently a professor at Ontario Tech in the Faculty of Social Science and Humanities, where he has received the Faculty Teaching Award and was a finalist for the Award for Teaching Excellence.
