The University of Toronto Varsity Blues are excited to share the commitment of Mateo Alvarado to the men's track and field team for the 2025-26 season.

A 5-foot-7 sprinter from Thornhill, Sealy joins the Blues via the York University Track and Field Club (YUTC).

Primarily competing in the 200m and 400m, Alvarado has appeared at four national championships as a member of YUTC. Highlights include a third-place finish in the 200m at the 2024 Legion National Youth Track and Field Championships in Calgary and a second-place result in the 200m at the 2024 U18 Canadian Indoor Championships in Montreal.

A talented student and designer, Alvarado is set to study Architecture in the world-renowned John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Design at U of T.

Students who sign a letter of intent and/or commit to Varsity Blues intercollegiate teams will be eligible to play at the University of Toronto provided they are academically admissible and have applied through the normal process with the Ontario Universities Application Centre.
