Jason Bunston brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Varsity Blues cross-country team this season as Assistant Coach.
As a professional athlete Jason held three Canadian records from 1996 to 2014 in the 3K (7:45) and 5K (13:25/13:22) indoors and outdoors. He was ranked 2nd in the world in the 5K indoors in 1997 behind only the world record holder.
Collegiately, Jason competed for the University of Arkansas where he was an 11-time All-American and NCAA Champion in cross-country and track & field.
Jason has won 10 Canadian Championship titles in cross-country and track & field and was a National team member from 1988-1998.
Jason began coaching distance runners in 2015 as an Assistant Coach with Marathon Dynamics and coached cross-country for the Varsity Blues in 2019. He currently works in information technology at the City of Toronto and is a Board Member at Athletics Ontario.
