Ian Anderson

  • Title
Track & Field - Pole Vault
A track and field coach since 1965, Ian Anderson started at the high school level, developing successful programs at Alderwood C.I., Kipling C.I., Keiller Mackay C.I. and then Richview C.I. (1985 OFSAA boys champions). During this time, he also coached club track with the Toronto Striders and then Track West, a specialized middle distance program which produced some outstanding athletes, including three out of six Canadian juniors who won the silver medal at the 1978 World Cross Country Championship.

Upon retirement from high school teaching, Anderson came to the University of Toronto and worked under Doug Wood and Arye Rosenoer in pole vault. Having had a number of OFSAA medallists come through the club and university program, Anderson now works with both the Varsity and the junior development programs.
