Carl Georgevski became head coach of the Varsity Blues track and field team in the 1995-96 season.
A three-time Olympic jumps coach, Carl represented Canada at the Seoul, Barcelona and Sydney games. He was also named Team Canada’s head coach for the World University Games in 1989, 1993 and 1999, as well as the jumps coach at the 1990 Commonwealth Games in Auckland and the 1991 world championships in Tokyo. He has been named the CIS women's track and field coach of the year five times (2015-16, 2014-15, 2005-06, 1997-98, 1996-97).Â
As a student of his event and jumping in general, Carl took advantage of every opportunity to learn, having worked with many of the best people in the world. He has not only worked with elite Varsity high jumpers for the past 30 years, he has coached Greg Joy, Milt Ottey, Alex Zaliauskas, Michael Ponikvar, Wanita Dykstra and Nicole Forester. A logical extension of his coaching is his interest in and extensive knowledge of Training theory, and strength and power development. Carl was Athletics Canada’s National Coordinator for Jumps when the University of Toronto was a designated National High Performance Centre.
